What a small-wedding photographer actually costs in Colorado
If you've spent an evening on photographer websites, you already know the pattern: gorgeous galleries, glowing adjectives, and — where the price should be — a contact form. "Inquire for our investment guide."
Let's just talk numbers.
What the Colorado market charges
Around the Front Range, established wedding photographers typically land between $3,200 and $7,000 for wedding coverage, with the middle of the market clustering in the $3,000–$5,000 range. Below that sits a newer/part-time tier (roughly $1,000–$2,500, usually shorter coverage), and above it a luxury tier that climbs past $8,000 in resort markets. Videography runs its own scale — commonly $2,000–$8,500 depending on experience and deliverables.
Elopement and micro-wedding coverage — shorter days, smaller scope — generally runs lower than full-wedding pricing, though "elopement packages" that bundle planning services can climb right back up.
Why "inquire for pricing" exists
Three honest reasons. Some photographers price per-wedding based on scope (fair). Some use the conversation to sell upward from a low "starting at" number (less fair). And some simply follow the industry habit because everyone else does. Whatever the reason, the effect on you is the same: you can't budget without a week of email tag — and the number-one reason couples ghost a vendor is discovering the price was never in their range.
Our whole price card (this is all of it)
- Elopement (3 hours, planning + permit help included) — $3,400
- Micro-wedding (4 hours, up to ~50 guests) — $3,500
- Standard (6 hours) — $4,800
- Full day (8 hours) — $6,000
- Wedding film add-on (same shooter) — +$1,800
- Engagement session — $500 · Same-day social content — from $300
Why can we publish it? Because the price doesn't change based on how the phone call goes. Travel beyond the Front Range gets quoted at actual cost, in writing, before you commit — that's the only variable.
How to compare quotes like a pro
- Normalize to hours. A "$2,900 package" at four hours and a "$4,800 package" at six are closer than they look.
- Ask what delivery actually includes. Gallery size promises matter less than rights (can you print freely?) and turnaround (in writing).
- Ask who's actually shooting. At some studios, the person whose portfolio you loved isn't the person who shows up. Ask directly.
- Watch the day-of-week premium. If a Saturday costs more than a Thursday for the same coverage, you're paying for the calendar, not the craft. (We charge the same every day — here's why weekdays win.)
